Wyler Art Studio News: June 2008Kris will be teaching a graduate level workshop entitled Watercolor for Art Teachers at Malone College this summer. The workshop will be held July 7-11 from 8:30 a.m. until noon. Come and see all that watercolor can do! Improve your teaching skills by building your own skills in creating watercolor art. Teach your students that it really isn't the medium that can't be fixed. We will explore paint properties, painting techniques, and composition. Weather permitting, we will do plein air painting. Please bring your own art supplies or the instructor can supply them for a $15 fee. The course fee is $155 for the one-credit hour course. Kris will be displaying three of her five new abstract paintings at the Watercolor Wizards Exhibit at Studio M in the Massillon Museum from July 11-August 17, 2008. She will present acrylic abstracts Cosmos and As the Band Marches By, as well as Turquoise Moods and Captivation. Studio M is open Tuesday through Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., except when the Silk Room has been reserved for private functions. A call to the Museum office can confirm that the exhibit is available for viewing: 330-833-4061. If you are passing through Akron-Canton Airport, you will likely encounter Kristine Wyler's painting, Invoking the Spirit. Second April Galerie of Canton, Ohio has placed several of Kris's paintings here and at other Stark County business venues. Her work will be on display March through July 2008. Other paintings include her abstracts, Reaching for the Stars and Divergent Division. And be sure to mark Kris's solo show, Forever Changing, August 15 - September 14, 2008, on your calendar. The show will be held at North Canton's Little Art Gallery, 185 North Main Street, North Canton, Ohio 44720. The opening reception for the public will be held Saturday, August 16, from 2 to 4 p.m. Gallery hours are Monday thru Thursday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Fridays 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays (after Labor Day): 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. For more information call 330-499-4712 x312.
