Wyler Art Studio News: February 2009

2nd April Galerie's show, The Winter Blues, will be held Friday, February 13th, from 5 to 9 p.m. at their Cleveland Avenue Gallery, 324 Cleveland Avenue NW, Canton, Ohio.  Kris's abstract painting, Inferno will be shown.

Quiet Morning (oil on board, 11" x 15") is Kristine Wyler's latest painting.  This painting began life with a full-value graphite drawing.  Working in negative space, Kris used an eraser with stunning effect to depict tangled foliage and eddies in the water.   As she painted, her judicious use of highlights helped to create the uplifting, airy feeling of morning light.  She completed Quiet Morning with the smooth, matte finish that has characterized her latest work.

Kristine Wyler donated her painting, Flight, to the Hearts of Hope Public Arts Contest 2009. The winning piece will be sold at auction at the Hearts with Hope Dinner and Auction on March 13, 2009.  Proceeds will be given as a donation to the Domestic Violence Project Inc.
